Wherever you’re based in the UK, getting proper support for PTSD isn’t always straightforward. NHS waiting lists for trauma-focused therapy can stretch well past a year in some areas, and private options vary hugely in approach, cost, and quality.
Future-Edge Therapy works with people across the whole of the UK, online, alongside in-person sessions from our base in Bedford. Wherever you’re starting from, our focus is the same: not just helping you cope with PTSD, but working towards genuine resolution.
If you’ve started looking into this, you’ve probably already come across a fairly long list of acronyms: CBT, EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, IEMT, brainspotting, and more. It can be hard to know where to start, or whether any of it will actually work for you.
Broadly, most PTSD therapy in the UK falls into one of a few camps:
There’s no single “correct” therapy for PTSD. Different approaches suit different people, and quite often, what someone needs changes as they move through recovery.
At Future-Edge Therapy, we don’t rely on one single technique. Our work draws on an integrated framework built around the nervous system and body, not just conversation, using tools such as EMDR, IEMT, Kinetic Shift, brainspotting, and Rewind Technique where appropriate, applied in a structured order rather than picked at random.
The idea behind this is simple, even if the underlying science isn’t: PTSD is held in more than just your thoughts. It’s held in how your nervous system learned to respond under threat, and that response often needs more than talking to shift.
Many of the people we see have already tried some form of PTSD therapy, whether through the NHS, a counsellor, or another private practitioner, and found it helped up to a point. Our work tends to pick up from there.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to reach out. People come to us with a range of experiences, including:
If any of this sounds familiar, it may be worth exploring whether a more integrated approach could help.
Sessions are paced around you. We don’t ask you to relive traumatic events in detail, and we won’t push faster than your nervous system is ready to go. Progress tends to happen in stages, moving from regulation and stability, through processing, to integration, rather than in one dramatic breakthrough.
All work is delivered by licensed practitioners working within the same clinical framework, supervision, and ethical standards, regardless of who you’re paired with.
Online therapy has come a long way, and for a lot of the work we do, it’s genuinely just as effective as sitting in the same room. Sessions are delivered over secure video calls, at times that fit around your life, wherever you happen to be in the UK.
If you’d prefer to meet in person, we also see clients face-to-face from our base in Bedford, with many travelling in from Milton Keynes, Northampton, and further afield.
For most of the work we do, yes. Some people prefer meeting in person, particularly early on, but plenty of clients complete their entire recovery process online.
NHS trauma services are often excellent but stretched, with long waits and, understandably, limited session numbers. Working with us privately means quicker access and a more tailored, integrated approach, without the same constraints. However it is important to note some of our services may include a waitlist due to high demand.
No. PTSD can follow a wide range of experiences, including accidents, medical trauma, bereavement, abuse, or prolonged periods of stress. We work with the nervous system response, not just the category of event.
It varies. We don’t work to fixed timelines or set programmes, since everyone’s system responds differently. This is usually discussed once we understand more about what’s going on for you.
If you’re looking for PTSD therapy in the UK and want an approach that goes further than symptom management, we’d be glad to talk it through with you, wherever you’re based.
